I was born in Fostoria,
OH (Go Buckeyes!),
but mostly grew up in the Ann Arbor, MI area.
Although I accepted the Lord as my savior at the age of 6, my decision
really started to make an impact on my life when I was a freshman at
Spring Arbor College (now Spring Arbor University). I went to college
to study journalism, but quickly fell in love with radio, working at
the college’s two stations, as well as a local news/talk
station. I eventually graduated with a degree in Broadcast
Communication. During my time at Spring Arbor, I met Amanda. We were
married in August of 1997. My first job after graduation was at WDBA in
DuBois, PA, where I hosted the morning show and also grew into the
music director’s job. After nearly 3 years there, the Lord
called us to WTGN in Lima, OH, where I hosted the afternoon drive show
and again served as the music director. We grew a lot, spiritually, in
Lima, and came to see the world a lot broader. Much of that happened
when the radio station sent me and seven other men to Burkina Faso,
West Africa to build a radio station. I came back with a heart for both
missions and Africa; little did I know that in less than two years, I
would be living in Africa myself. Shortly after returning from the
trip, we were contacted by the Christian & Missionary Alliance
about serving in the role of Bookkeeper for the mission. That was in
June 2004. We arrived in Bamako, Mali in September 2005. The Lord has
been good to us all the way!
