Dedication (by Thom)

We've been a bit out of touch lately. We've had some issues connecting to the internet and we've been very busy running around showing off our twins. One of those 'busy things' was our babies' dedication this past Sunday. We had planned this for several months and we were so happy to be able to pledge in front of our family and friends to raise Hannah and Miriam in a local church, training them in the ways of the Lord, and praying with them regularly. It was a special evening indeed. We also shared a letter we wrote to the girls. We had some requests to share that letter on our website. Here's what we wrote:

Miriam and Hannah,
Just 3 short years ago we were with our friends in this church studying the life of Abraham. He and his wife were called by God to leave their homes for a foreign land. They left childless, but during his journeys they were blessed with the desire of their hearts. We understand this more than anyone can know.
When we were told about you girls last July we were flooded with emotions. We were anxious, concerned, incredulous, excited, and overwhelmed. Still, we knew we loved you even before we met you. That day, July 31st, 2006, will be long seared into our memories as one of the best days of our lives. You were small and helpless, even more than we first knew, but you were also perfect little gifts from the Lord. We know that without His plan, and His healing and helping Hands, you would never have found your ways into our arms. You are our miracles.
It didn’t take us long to see you two are individuals. Only the Lord knows how you will grow up, but right now we can see so many differences in the two of you. You’re interested in different things and we want you to know that we love that about you. You are two very precious babies and we’re excited to see that you have different gifts. With those different gifts you’ll have different opportunities to serve the Lord during your lives. We can offer no better advice to you than for you to serve the Lord and love Him with all your heart and soul and mind. We pledge to give you every possible opportunity to grow in His ways and all the support we can give. We’ll make mistakes along the way, but it will never be from a lack of love for you.
We are so blessed to have you in our lives and we pray you will be a blessing to others. We love you girls.

We haven't posted much here lately, but hopefully we'll have some new thoughts and experiences to share here while we've got internet access this next week and 1/2. We also have a number of pictures to post, so keep checking back for that!
